Being in business since 2004 and reliantly serving the Washington, DC market, HORUS Technology Solutions, Inc. is an enterprise solutions provider, with mastery of both Microsoft and non-Microsoft technologies. They are a government focused Systems Integrator that builds solutions for government agencies. HORUS also works in the commercial space, but the majority of their customers are government entities like, The U.S Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, and U.S Department of Veterans Affairs. As a well-established partner of GSX Solutions, HORUS specializes in engineering collaboration and office automation solutions for the enterprise based on Microsoft SharePoint, Java, Enterprise Search, Big Data and many others.
Last week GSX had the opportunity to interview Mehdi Bousaidi, Principal at HORUS, and ask him a few questions to get his insights about HORUS and their partnership with us.
Does your company have a certain specialty?
We at HORUS call ourselves solution providers for a reason. We look at each project from the big picture and are very sensitive to the needs of each and every one of our clients. As a former Microsoft employee focused on enterprise search, I have a deep understanding of SharePoint, inside and out. Our employees have built out several projects in Microsoft SharePoint, SQL server, and .net. We have termed ourselves “true technologists”, because we are extremely diversified and truly find the best solution for our clients without bias.
What differentiates HORUS from other Microsoft consulting firms in the market?
We are a Microsoft consulting partner focused on SharePoint & SQL but are also greatly diversified and provide an expertise in Java, Oracle, Big Data, and others. We are truly exerts in each technology and we know how to integrate these technologies together for our customers. We derive value out of the partnerships with each of the technologies we focus on.
How has the SharePoint market changed since first starting HORUS?
The market has changed a great deal as SharePoint has developed and matured from just a “document repository” to a business critical application. It has been amazing for me to observe the interest in SharePoint grow. For example, the first SharePoint conference (SPC) I attended in 2007 had around 2,000 attendees, while this past year had upwards of 12,000 attendees!
GSX and HORUS are united by a strong partnership. What makes GSX an interesting partner for you?
GSX is an interesting partner for us as there are very strong synergies between our two companies. We share the same values as to how we serve our customers. From a technical perspective, there is a lot of value in the fact that GSX is a very non-intrusive solution to monitor and report on SharePoint. This helps HORUS serve the market, and really distinguishes us from other solution providers in the market by offering leading technologies like GSX.
What is your favorite feature within GSX Monitor/Analyzer?
Our favorite feature is that we can proactively monitor the end user experience in SharePoint. The alerts allow us to identify issues preemptively and take action quickly. The reporting tool is very powerful and allows us to report on a variety of statistics, SLA’s and performance metrics.
What do you hope to see from GSX in the future?
I would love the ability to customize GSX and allow it to hook into specific APIs and also the ability to create custom dashboards in GSX Analyzer.
If there is one thing you want our readers to know about HORUS?
At HORUS, we are of the most creative and imaginative solution providers in the space. We think outside the box, and there is no problem that we have not been able to solve. We are genetically created to solve problems and help our customers. The way we solve problems is not through the normal means, we try to compile all the pieces to provide the customer with the best solution for their needs. We love the process of solving problems!
