TravelerBack to the Notes Traveler webinar we hosted with IBM. Below are the main questions and answers we got from attendees.

Question: Are there any enhancements for Blackberry 10 devices for Traveler 9.0.1? BB Secure Workspace for Android or iOS ?
Answer: There are Blackberry 10 enhancements included in this longer list of enhancements rolled into the IBM Notes Traveler 9.0.0.1/9.0.1 (more info here)

Q: Will GSX Monitor & Analyzer work across Domino domains?
A: Yes, as long as the ID you are using to monitor your domains is appropriately cross-certified. As a general rule if you can access a server using the Notes Client and ID on the Monitoring Station, via Passthru, cross-certification or any other mean, you can monitor it.

Q: Is the Traveler Server 9.0 supported on Domino server v9.0.1?
A: Customers will want to upgrade their Traveler server to 9.0.1 to match the Domino 9.0.1 level for the best experience.

Q: Does GSX monitor a Traveler server on the Iseries?
A: Beginning with the March 2013 release of iBM Notes Traveler 9.0.1, IBM added support for the IBM i (iSeries) server. You may know Traveler already was supported on Windows and Linux. GSX Solutions is able to monitor the Traveler server wherever it is based on iSeries, Linux or Windows, etc.

Q: Does GSX monitors IBM Notes Traveler internal derby database performances ?
A: GSX does not currently monitor the Traveler Derby database, but *Traveler.nsf.

Q: Does GSX acts as a device to check the service availability ? if so, as what kind of Device: Active Sync (iOs/WP/BB) or as an android device (using https) ?
A: GSX Monitor actually monitors a FULL roundt-trip to the Traveler Device itself rather than embarking an ActiveSync client. This is done using proprietary technology and ensures mail is functioning as expected at every layer involved in routing: client, server, Traveler, device, etc.

Q: Is it possible to set specific alerts around the most critical users’ devices in my environment like the CEO/CIO at my company?
A: Yes, GSX has the flexibility to set specific alert parameters around “out-of-sync devices” for your VIP users.

Q: Is it possible to monitor different servers at different locations?
A: Yes, this is possible. Because GSX Monitor & Analyzer is agentless you will have the ability to access any server that you have the proper credentials to access. However, one thing to consider is your latency tests will be much more accurate if you deploy multiple installations of GSX in each data center you are monitoring.

Q: Does GSX Monitor require a large amount of bandwidth to run?
A: Minimal data are returned in small data packets. Therefore, very little bandwidth is consumed. GSX Monitor will seem like one additional heavy user.

Q: Is there a trial version available for download?
A: Yes, there is a 30-day fully functioning version of GSX Monitor & Analyzer to monitor up to 15 servers. The trial is available here

Q: Where is GSX Monitor installed?
A: It is not required to install GSX on a “server class” level machine. However, 95 of our customers install it on a VM slice.
