The Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in Houston was an enlightening event for us all! As the US Channel Manager at GSX, it was a great event to learn, network and recruit new Microsoft Partners. Just like any large technology conference, the days started early and ended very late, but it really flies by. We attended plenty of meetings, sessions, networking events and parties hosted by the event as well...It was a great week!
One of the most interesting aspects of Microsoft's WPC is how international the event is. With 16,000 attendees and 160 countries represented, the event had an "Olympic" like feel. After a quick walk through the regional lounges on the expo floor, you can feel the pride. Many countries even created customized apparel that displayed their nationalism!
From the opening keynote to the end of the conference, Microsoft's WPC proved to be an exceptional event that GSX will continue to attend for many years to come. We were so happy to attend the first keynote hosted by Steve Balmer himself presenting Microsoft's vision for the next couple years. Based on last week's presentations, the next big trends are (and will be) Big Data, Cloud, Mobility and Enterprise Social.
My personal highlight of the event was attending the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference 2013 Golf Tournament organized by IAMCP. The event was great for networking, friendly competition and fundraising. All the proceeds from the event benefitted the Snowdrop Foundation to support the fight against childhood cancer.
Wednesday was an action packed day that included a fantastic event put on by Microsoft. They held a party at the Minute Maid Park (home of the Houston Astros) featuring performances by Fitz and the Tantrums (a personal favorite) and Lenny Kravitz. This was a great way to end the week and celebrate a successful and productive conference for GSX!
Were you able to make it to WPC 2013? Let me know your highlights from the week!
