October was all about SharePoint! After Anaheim Conference, here is Berlin.
The attendance was not the same, 750 instead of 7500 people, but “size does not matter”, does it?
Well the weather does matter a bit though, and it was cold and windy over there. Fortunately, the conference was inside the huge Estrel hotel, apparently one of the biggest conference centers in Europe.
First day was quite good, many people showed up at the booth, and were glad to “meet” with GSX Monitor & Analyzer. The feedback was great, once again, and Microsoft administrators start to hear more about GSX I believe.
At the end of the first day was the traditional cocktail time to make attendees visit the different booth. This was a good opportunity to meet some customers around a nice German beer.
During the next days was the chance to attend the different sessions. It was clear that the European market is way “behind “the American market in some sense. This conference was a lot about Migration to SharePoint 2010, and best practices for SharePoint 2010, hence showing that Europe is still in the process of adopting this platform. Also, a lot of the customers we talked to were actually trying out version 2010 or migrating from 2007 or even Notes application. Hence the tool we provide for SharePoint might be used more for control than availability in a first time, because once you deploy SharePoint for the first time, you can’t predict exactly where you are going to go with it, unless you do a lot of planning and study.
By the end of the week, GSX was giving away a nice Windows based Acer tablet on a random draw. This happened on the last day of the Conference and the winner was glad to go home with this nice device.
On the last night of the Conference a dinner was organized in the main room. This was the opportunity to enjoy some really good food while meeting with some other speakers and attendees.
At the dinner we had the chance to talk to a few people, including Bob from Bright Street group, who was a speaker during the week about collaboration in a company. This was a very interesting talk, and we had a lot of fun !
This week in Berlin was another good opportunity for GSX to show its products to the Microsoft world. The feedback received was really great once again, and I can’t wait to deliver more features that will help even more the administrators out there!
I hope to see some of you guys at the next show!
