               GSX Monitor      9.0.0               Outdated

June 4, 2008

Important information for current customers migrating to Monitor V9
+ in V9, all E-mail alerts and reports are sent in Html through a SMTP server. Therefore, this SMTP server has to be defined
in Monitor and alerts must be configured to use profiles
+ the Lotus Notes Repository database used to gather statistics collected by Monitor has been replaced in V9 by the GSX
Analyzer Web site. Statistics can be migrated from Repository to Analyzer using the Monitor V9, Preferences, Analyzer,
       Migrate utility
+ if your current Monitor license hasn't been upgraded yet to support Monitor V9, pls contact support@gsx.net after July 4

    New features and modules
    + certification on Notes & Domino V8.0.1, Windows 2008, IIS7, Firefox 3
+ Monitor can now be installed on a 64 bit OS
+ a much awaited feature ... Monitor's dashboard can now be accessed from a PDA (BlackBerry, iPhone, etc ...)
+ added support for BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4.1.5, including support of new services
+ Monitor doesn't require anymore a Notes environment to send alerts and consolidate statistics:
       - reports, alerts and system messages are now all in Html
       - use of SMTP servers for sending email
       - GSX Repository has been replaced by GSX Analyzer for gathering results and consolidating statistics (see point below)
       - a new utility has been added to manage pending Monitor Email
       - the icon in the status bar turns red if Monitor cannot send Email to both the Primary and Alternate Email servers
+ new supported platform: MS Exchange
       - supervision of Exchange services and key parameters
       - 27 types of real time graphs
       - tens of statistics collected and consolidated
       - support of Exchange clusters monitoring
       - alerts on server, network, cluster, pending and undeliverable mail, disk space status, etc
    + new Domino Replication monitoring
       - redesigned UI allowing to better graphically track and sort errors by database and server
       - new scheduler allowing for example to define a short cycle for cluster replication and a long one for a global database
         replicating worldwide
       - new alerts can be set per database
       - new parameter allowing to deselect replication monitoring for new server entries
    + redesigned Alerts
       - new global outage alert: when many systems go down at the same time (i.e. in case a router serving several servers
crashes), this feature allows to trigger a unique alert, thus preventing the sending of many separate alerts
       - added missing "back up" alerts, for Mail Routing, SRP Up and quite a few other ones
       - new alert Profiles
       - new popup alert type
       - in case of "Back up" alert, the downtime is reported in the alert
       - new sound alert type in GUI
       - new escalation feature
       - new alert priorities can be set per profile or by type of alert
       - unlimited alert entries
       - improved Alert Viewer with details on recipients
       - test buttons are generalized for all alerts and profiles
       - new parameter allowing to get alerted even during planned maintenance periods
       - Warning: alert settings configured in Monitor V8 are migrated to V9 but the selection of alerts to be used has to be
         performed again in V9
+ new remote interface. This new feature allows to run Monitor on a machine and additional GUI(s) on remote PCs
+ new utility allowing to display and manage the E-mail and Pager messages that Monitor cannot deliver due to
unavailability of servers used to send those messages
+ the SNMP module has been completely recoded and simplified
+ the LDAP monitoring has been extended to search for attributes and return the number of occurences found
+ added new statistics, including the number of outages by server, consolidated by day/week/month
+ added downtime information in "back up" alerts following an outage

    New GSX Analyzer module
This new component replaces the Lotus Notes GSX Repository database. It provides a powerful and user friendly way of storing historical data, reports and alerts and allows to consolidate statistics to get trends, export some information and create graphs. Analyzer is a web site.

    Key features include:
+ support of any Web server, including IIS and Apache, and any browser
+ there's no third party product required (No SQL server, nor Crystal Reports license, etc ...) nor additional license, good
news for all existing clients, isn't it ?
+ supports the migration of existing statistics from Repository to Analyzer
+ graphical overview of servers health:
         - interactive and animated gauges and graphs
        - GSX Repository's Periodic reports are replaced by the Statistics tab in Analyzer
        - GSX Repository's Enterprise reports are replaced by the trends tab in Analyzer
        - filters allowing to select the period to display (Analyzer will compute statistics on the fly accordingly)
        - last alerts and historical representation
         - custom parameters allowing to select default values and set thresholds
+ multilingual (supports by default English, Dutch, German, French)
+ trends can be created and stored, based on a selection of statistics, servers, period and language. Then graphs are
       immediately available
+ automated off-site backup and compacting utilities
+ supports gathering and consolidation of statistics from several GSX Monitor machines
+ severity levels can be assigned to alerts. Alerts can also be commented
+ can be installed either on the same machine as Monitor or on a remote computer (communication failures are handled
by the product w/o data loss)

    Improvements
    + improved MoniPing utility
       - MoniPing can now start as a Windows service
       - the status of threads, within processes, can now be monitored
       - MoniPing can now be installed, as part of the Monitor installation options
       - improved, more user friendly interface
       - prevented to send alerts again in case MoniPing is restarted
       - fixed special characters not properly displayed in history
       - now, supports several Popup message alerts
       - added possibility to send SNMP traps
       - fixed crash in case MoniPing was started twice
    + improved BES monitoring
       - improved management and reporting of errors for Critical/Non critical users
       - fixed name of user in error not displayed in Tooltip in case of BES server on Exchange
       - provided more possibilities in the control used to scan BES Mail in Server Settings

+ new Help system and online help has been added in many windows
+ fixed problems with unusual date formats and regional settings containing special characters
+ fixed sort in list of databases browsed by Monitor, when accessing Domino servers on Unix
+ fixed Alert Reminders not being triggered on Gateways
+ some limitations have been introduced in DB Monitoring to avoid incorrect configurations
+ replaced return codes in Sametime monitoring by error message
+ improved Mail routing probes in case the fixed string probe type is used:
       - using several probes per cycle is not authorized anymore
       - the probes are not deleted anymore at the end of the SLA2 check (this could cause new probes to be deleted too)
+ fixed incomplete list of databases reported in DB Monitoring on Unix systems, when wirlcards are used on database filters
+ fixed sending of many System messages in case a Monitor process cannot be initiated
+ improved compacting of databases used by Monitor
