Pittsburgh: MSA's Hub for Disaster Recovery Seats & Hosting
PITTSBURGH, PA - April 9, 2003 - Management Science Associates, Inc. (MSA) announced today a partnering arrangement with E.V. Bishoff Co. to offer thousands of Disaster Recovery (DR) seats in Pittsburgh to complement MSA's DR computer data centers & optical fiber communication facilities. MSA will outfit "Bishoff Safe Haven" space with PCs, telephones, furniture and optical fiber for high speed data transmission to Cleveland, Washington D.C. & the East Coast, as well as to other firms and sites within Southwest Pennsylvania. MSA's RockPointe DR computer facilities opened a year ago to complement and link with its Point Breeze and Allegheny Center computer centers. It now provides DR services to Ansys, Westmoreland County, Comedy Central and the many East Coast clients for which MSA also provides database management and analysis services and Business Continuity (BC) services. "The Bishoff DR seats will be connected on MSA's optic fiber network to our multiple hardened data centers in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area to enable the individuals located in the Bishoff DR seats, or elsewhere on our network, to have high bandwidth connections to their servers in MSA's computer/data centers or the Internet, according to Alfred A. Kuehn, MSA's CEO. MSA believes that its providing DR services to local firms as well as to East Coast organizations is helping to build the image of Pittsburgh as a hub for such services. Dr. Kuehn is delivering a speech on this subject in New York later this month and is scheduled to participate in a panel on this subject in Washington D.C. in early May. For several years MSA has been providing secure hosting services to local clients, although that has not been the focus of its efforts to develop and operate a premier DR/BC capability for firms and government agencies. Homeland Security is setting new standards of performance, and MSA believes it is at the leading edge in developing and providing such capabilities. Michael Devinney, Director of MSA's Computer/Communication Management (MSA C/CM) division, said, "Local clients can also benefit from MSA's 40 years' experience and continuous record of growth and stability through the use of secure, local hosting services provided by MSA C/CM."
