Last week I attended the SharePoint Evolution Conference in London along with 800 other lucky attendees, and it was truly a great experience. I am delighted to confirm with Spencer Harbar who said "This conference is simply the best SharePoint event outside of North America, with the best speakers, the best content, and the best entertainment".
Based on my conversations with fellow attendees, exhibitors and speakers, the excitement was all about the potential of SharePoint 2013 to radically alter the way collaboration software may have once been thought of. This is thanks to "My Sites", community sites built straight from a template that includes built-in, third-party web apps such as Yammer, etc.
Exciting out-of-the-box features of SharePoint 2013 include:
- Focus on Community Sites
- Improved Templates
- Easier Customization of Web Interfaces
- Integration of existing social technologies
- Global Search
- Embracing the Cloud
The GSX pod was really busy as well. We showcased version 10.5 of our monitoring and reporting solution for SharePoint and met with happy customers and partners.
The latest improvements of the version 10.5 include enhanced reporting and user-based processing to strengthen performance as well as the overall user experience. Read more on What's new in v10.5.
We offered cool light-up sunglasses at the pod for everyone to wear and conducted a lottery game that gathered over 350 participants...All for only 1 winner of the Parrot AR Drone we gave away, and here is our winner!
I would like to thank our UK partner Gareth Brown from Someone Else (left hand side of the picture) for his truly valuable help and continuous support. Also, I would like to say that Zoe and other people from Combined Knowledge did such a great job making this such a successful event.
